Black Prince Winery

Located in the heart of Prince Edward County, just outside of Picton, an unassuming bungalow sits amidst residences and businesses along the Loyalist Parkway, home to Black Prince Winery.

With the help of seven families, this working winery opened to the public in 2003, based on a four-hectare fertile, sandy loam vineyard that grows Chardonnay, Cab Franc and some hybrids. Under Winemaker Terence Van Rooyen's guidance, GM and co-founder Geoff Webb purchases other county fruit for a range that expands to Pinot Noir, Riesling and Melon de Bourgogne. Black Prince wines have received many accolades and continue to get positive press and in 2009, launched Chardonnay Terroir Elite -the first County wine aged in County-grown and coopered oak barrels, and a follow up to a Gold Medal for the 2007 Chardonnay Reserve. Look for Cab Franc Terroir Elite to be released in 2010.

Closson Chase

Closson Chase is a quality-driven producer that has spearheaded the birth of the Prince Edward County wine industry. Since 1999, we have been Closson Chase.

Commited to creating distinctive wines that rival the world's finest. Set in Hillier, Ontario the estate is over 30 acres of limestone-rich soil under vine; planted to the classic Burgundian-varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with small yields, French-inspired vinification and careful barreling. But more then that, it is a place of great inspiration. Viticulturalist (and iconoclast) Deborah Paskus is one of Canada's most celebrated winemakers - a craftsperson in it for the pursuit of excellence. Deborah uses innovative viticultural techniques; she is devoted to dirt - rich, pesticide-free and pure as possible. The vineyards are farmed organically and moving towards bio-dynamics. You'll have a more extraordinary bottle of wine if people are paying attention to the soil the wine is raised in. Deborah wants what is placed in the bottle to represent as natural an expression of vineyard as possible. Closson Chase is a story of determination and perseverance in Prince Edward County.

Del-Gatto Estates

Del-Gatto Estates, Bella Vigne is family owned and operated, specializing in hybrid grape varieties. Our winery is located in North Marysburgh, on the picturesque Cape Vesey, locally known as 'the Rock'. We are more than 125 feet above Lake Ontario and less than 800 feet from its shores, benefiting from a favourable micro-climate. The vines are grown on rare Waupoos and Solmesville clays; meticulously cared for by family. Hand planted, hand picked and hand crafted - our wines will take you on a new journey. Exultet Estates

A centuries old farm and orchard formerly producing milk, cheese, and apples now nurtures vineyards producing wine which is 100% from estate grown grapes.

Respecting our unique soil and land and its fruit, we are committed to minimal chemical inputs and maximum handwork to allow natural expression and variation in the fruit so that its wine bespeaks of its place of origin. We wish to share some of the light that these wines provide with all. Rejoice!

Fieldstone Estates

Fieldstone Estate Vineyards is located on the historic "Hog's Back" area of Hillier, Prince Edward County. The estate consists of 155 acres of classic clay-loam, limestone soil. Hubb's Creek runs over a section of the farm.

Ten acres of this property was planted to classic Vitis Vinifera vine - Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Franc - in 2001. Our first commercial wines, a 2007 barrel-fermented, sur lie, barrel-aged Chardonnay, and a barrel aged 2007 Cabernet Franc were released and have won local and international medals for excellence in accredited competitions. Some 2007 Cabernet Franc remains available to the public.

Fieldstone Estate Vineyards is owned in partnership by father and son Dick and Steven Singer. This year, 2010 is scheduled to be a go ahead year and primary plans for a winery, tasting room and supportive structures are currently being developed.

Our purpose is to grow only premium wines and we will continue to strive to develop and increase our vineyards planting only vitis vinifera grape vines. Fieldstone Estate Vineyards is committed to offering the best wines nature and man can create!

Harwood Estate Vineyards

Harwood is a completely Solar-Powered, off-grid winery. All wines are made from our own hand-picked Hillier grapes in the old-world tradition.

Some wines are fully wild-fermented in their native yeasts. We give our red wines extended skin contact. Pressing is done in many gentle press-and-release cycles. All labour intensive and somewhat risky practices that produce exquisite wines.

Our vinifera are Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Gew"urztraminer, and St. Laurent. We also blend the hybrids La Crescent and Traminette into an award-winning dessert wine called 'Just Desserts'. In 2009, we introduced a vivacious ros'e made from Frontenac Gris, which we named 'Friends Ros'e'.

Although the Harwood brand has been on the shelves of Black Prince winery in Picton since 2007, Harwood opened its own winery doors to the public in November of 2009, located on Loyalist Parkway just northwest of the hamlet of Hillier. Our Tasting Room is inside the working winery were our wines are being made. So, every visit is a winery tour. Your hosts are the winery staff.

We're also licensed to serve wine by the glass on our sunny patio in the middle of our three planted vineyards. We offer light food accompaniments as well.

Hillier Creek Estates

Owned by Amber and Kemp Stewart, Hillier Creek Estates has been in development for over eight years, and the winery has opened its doors to the public for the first time this spring. Just west of the village of Hillier, the vineyards span twenty-two acres, the centerpiece of which is a beautifully restored 160-year-old barn, transformed into our winery, tasting room and wine retail store. We offer five varieties for your consideration this season: '08 Chardonnay, '08 Riesling, '07 Gamay, '07 Pinot Noir, and our '08 Vidal Ice Wine. We invite you to tour our vineyards and winery and learn about our grape growing and wine making process, or simply come and enjoy a glass of wine in the welcoming atmosphere of our tasting room. We are striving to make our first year an exciting one, and throughout 2010 we will be participating in a number of county-wide themed events as well as hosting our own special festivities.

Huff Estates

Huff Estates has developed into one of Ontario's most unique destinations.

WINERY - Voted one of the Top 20 Wineries in Canada, Huff Estates' proudly continues to produce National award winning wines. From Burgundian style whites to Bordeaux style reds, winemaker Fr'ed'eric Picard has an alchemist's touch that could only be born in France. In the summer months, guests dine al fresco on the patio next to the vineyard, enjoying menus crafted with local products.

INN - Guests of the Inn at Huff Estates enjoy quiet luxuries, curling up in front of a fire in their own sitting room or enjoying breakfast on their private patio overlooking the vineyard. Nearby, three villages boast numerous attractions, including golf courses, spas and great sailing.

GALLERY - The Oeno Gallery - one of Eastern Ontario's finest contemporary art galleries is just steps from both the Inn and the Winery. It features paintings and sculptures by over 40 artists from the region and other parts of Canada. The outdoor gardens expand every year, and showcase works by some of Ontario's most interesting sculptors.

Huff Estates and the Oeno Gallery host innovative experiences for guests throughout the entire year.

Karlo Estates

Karlo Estates is a 93-acre Winery with vineyards of Burgundian soil located in Prince Edward County. You will find it on Danforth Road just north of Wellington. Ideally situated close to the shores of Lake Ontario, Karlo Estates enjoys the lake's moderating effects to alleviate Canada's harsh winters and hot summers. The soil, made up of limestone and the famous Hillier clay, closely resembles the celebrated soil of the Burgundy region of France. With latitude similar to Burgundy as well, Karlo Estates produces great Canadian Wines with a distinctive terroir.

Richard Karlo is one of the Wine Judges of Canada and a Master Wine maker. Karlo Estates initial release includes Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Frontenac Gris Rose, Malbec, Cab Franc and Frontenac Gris Dessert Wine. More releases are planned later this summer.

With a background in civil engineering, Richard has converted the historic 1890 post and beam barn into the winery's tasting room and production facility. Here wine enthusiasts can savour wines made in both the old and new world styles while enjoying Canadian art.

Come to sample the wines, walk the land, participate in art classes lead by Fine Artist, Sherry Martin or picnic by the creek and dry stone bridge.

Norman Hardie Winery

Norman Hardie is one of a select few winemakers in the world who has mastered the art of tasting, growing and making wine in both Hemispheres and six wine regions around the world. In his early twenties he received his sommelier certification from the esteemed wine program at the University of Dijon in Burgundy and put his skills to work as a sommelier for Four Seasons Hotels for six years. His insatiable thirst to master the art of winemaking led him on a six year journey apprenticing for the very best producers/winemakers of cool climate varieties in Burgundy, South Africa, Oregon, New Zealand and California.In 2003 he put roots down in Prince Edward County by planting 12000 Pinot noir vines, 3000 Chardonnay vines and 2000 Pinot gris vines. In a few short years Norman Hardie winery has established itself as one of Canada's premier wineries. His winery is one of only four wineries in Canada to be featured in Jancis Robinson's and Hugh Johnson's Oxford encyclopedia's World Wine Atlas. His wines can be sourced exclusively from the winery or in the top restaurants in the Montreal/Ottawa/Toronto/Niagara corridor as well as fine restaurants and wine boutiques in the very competitive Hong Kong wine market

Winemaker's approach - Norman Hardie has chosen to make wines from some of the finest clay limestone soils in Niagara and Prince Edward County. His wines are crafted to reflect the incredible terroir and the cool climate we are blessed with here in Ontario. They are beautifully balanced making them approachable now but will age gracefully. Made in an old world style they are palate driven as opposed to the "tutti fruity" simplicity often found in new world wines.

Oak Heights

Oak Heights officially awakens from winter hibernation on Saturday May 22nd!Celebrating the long weekend we will be open 11 - 5 serving food and wine (and beer) Saturday through Monday. Enjoy our jazzy blues lunch with live entertainment on May 23rd and our picnics by the pond commencing on the 24th.

From that point on the tasting bar and bistro restaurant will be open from Wednesday through Sunday 11 a.m. till 5 p.m.

Lots has been happening in the cellar and we can't wait to have you taste our new wine offerings - also check out our sexy cellar barrel room - where we love to host more intimate winery events - available for groups up to eight.

Our new bistro menu features locally sourced gourmet fare created specially to pair with our Oak Heights wines. Casual and relaxed is the vibe - with live music to make the magic!

Our balcony is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine with a charcuterie or cheese plate, while overlooking our vineyards and rolling hills where we often spot wild turkey or deer, or watch the blue heron fish in the pond.

Rosehall Run Vineyards

Named for the nearby hamlet of Rosehall in Prince Edward County, Rosehall Run Vineyards is situated on prime grape growing land in Canada's fastest-growing Designated Viticultural Area. Owner Dan Sullivan is known for his hands-on, meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking including a gentle, minimalist method of grape processing and a terroir-driven philosophy to winemaking. Since opening in 2006, Rosehall Run has received consistently positive critical acclaim and numerous international awards for its wines.

Sandbanks Estate Winery

Sandbanks Estate Winery is located on the Loyalist Parkway (highway 33) just west of the historic Village of Wellington. Experience some of the County's finest award- winning wines. Guided and self guided vineyard tours, contemporary art exhibits and a season full of lively events and entertainment are waiting for you at Sandbanks Estate Winery. You are welcome to enjoy the picnic area and take in the spectacular views of Lake Ontario.

The Gallery at Sandbanks - Rita Thivierge, the artist in residence at The Gallery at Sandbanks Winery, studied art and design in Montreal, New York, and San Francisco. Rita has presented her colourful abstracted landscapes in over thirty exhibitions throughout the United States and Canada. Her striking canvases are displayed in the winery.

The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards & Estate Winery

New for 2010 picnic lunches are available by reservation, enjoy your gourmet picnic especially prepared by Harvest Restaurant by the fire, on the patio or bring a blanket and walk back the lane! The Winery is open daily May to October, 11AM - 5 PM. The winery offers a wide range of private tours which may be booked by reservation or join us for the free public tour daily at 3pm. enjoyed indoors or out.

The father/daughter team of Bob and Caroline Granger has poured their passion for viticulture and their love of Prince Edward County into what is undoubtedly one of the grand wineries in the region. With 60 acres of vineyards, a pastoral setting and a dramatic tasting room housed in a lovingly restored 1826 barn, The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards & Estate Winery is the Loyalist version of a French wine estate.

The vineyards are planted on Hillier clay gravel and are naturally well drained and surprisingly fertile. There are six varieties of vinifera grape planted in six distinct vineyards on the home farm. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Gamay have proven to be well adapted to alkaline soil and marginal climates. Other plantings include pinot gris, cabernet franc and Riesling.

Thirty Three Vines

Thirty Three Vines is a boutique vineyard and winery located within the boundary of Ontario's newest wine region - Prince Edward County. Our site is on historic Highway #33, aka, The Loyalist Parkway, 10 kms east of the Glenora Ferry which connects the Counties of Lennox & Addington and Prince Edward.

Thirty Three Vines produces premium red and white wines from our 10 acres of vinifera grapevines, including: Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Our wines show wonderful characteristics of our cool climate location, taken from the limestone and clay based soils and accented by the fresh water breezes of Lake Ontario. Lush fruit, crisp acidity, minerality and delicate flavours are all aspects of our wine that we are extremely proud.

The Thirty Three Vines tasting room is located in a very unique renovated Canadian National Caboose railway car. Situated in the middle of the vineyard and overlooking the Adolphus Reach waterway it is a spectacular experience of history, beauty and of course - great wine!

Waupoos Estates Winery

In 1993 a small vineyard was pioneered to prove that the "terroir" was ideal for growing excellent, well balanced quality grapes, starting Prince Edward County's Wine Industry.

Waupoos Estates Winery's Grand Opening June 15th, 2001, was featured on CBC news coast to coast. Full steam ahead in its 10th year, the winery features wines for all tastes, from crisp semi and dry whites to fuller bodied lightly oaked reds, leading to the famous Baco Noir.

Baco Noir 06 captured "the first" double gold in the All Canadian Wine Championships and in the same competition; Vidal 06 was awarded gold. First Ice Wine in the County, Waupoos Estates won Silver in the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition for the 07 followed by double gold for 08.

The Gazebo Restaurant overlooking Prince Edward Bay is the perfect spot to enjoy the award winning wines by the glass, indulge in a light lunch on the patio or reserve for a fine dining adventure. The experience will leave you wanting to return time and time again.
